A MUSEUM EMPOWERING ART PRODUCTION INSTEAD OF CONSUPTION

GAMeC Museum

'We are honored to have contributed to giving back to the citizens of Bergamo a new public space capable of raising awareness of the fundamental role that art and culture have in building the legacy for future generations.'

The transformation of the sports' hall in via Pitentino into a museum of modern and contemporary art intercepts the new languages ​​and new forms of art, without carrying out a radical demolition. After achieving Bergamo City Council planning permission and Listed Building Consent for the retrofit of GAMeC Museum in Bergamo, the Modern and Contemporary Art Gallery of the city, for years now looking for a new location, the site is now under construction and will be completed in 2026.

URBAN FURNITURE FOR THE METRO INFRASTRUCTURE IN DOHA, QATAR

Innovation for public space

Between 2016 and 2020 Carlo Cappai and Maria Alessandra Segantini have been working as consultants and with the Italian company Bellitalia to help them innovate their urban furniture production. Sitting with the management team, their interdisciplinary reasearch defined new design with a new patented material, UTC® and won the competition for the urban furniture of the Metro Line in Doha, Qatar.

Noah's Ark Nursery School, Alzano Lombardo

Completed after five years and nestled in the historic park of Villa Paglia, the new Noah's Ark nursery school in Alzano Lombardo stands at the forefront of spatial innovation and energy sustainability. Designed by C+S Architects, the project is deeply rooted in the territory and the rich tradition of Italian design. Maria Alessandra Segantini remarked: “This school represents an innovative approach to designing educational spaces—an act of breaking down barriers that, through transparency and intervisibility, fosters socialization and creativity among children, their teachers, families, and the entire surrounding community.”

CIRCULAR, ASSEMBLABLE, RECYCLABLE Don Sapino Nursery School in Venaria Reale

C+S Architects present the latest prototypes that close the path dedicated to circular schools. Pilot projects in Veneto (primary school), Friuli (secondary school) and now two nursery/nursery schools in Piedmont. Details of the projects financed with 6 million euros. Maria Alessandra Segantini: “I am an architect and a mother. With these projects I realize one of my dreams: to give special experiences to all the children in the world. (...) I experimented with circular school layouts and an assembly kit that allows the building to be dismantled at the end of its life by recycling the construction materials and thus reducing the impact on the Planet".

“Our research team investigated schools playing with the words ‘circular architecture’. We experimented with circular school layouts as well as with techical specifications designing an assembly kit to push the principles of circularity, in the aim to reach maximum flexibility and the possibility to dismantle the building at end of its life as well as recycling its construction materials.

LAND-CR.AF.T.ED

LAND-CR.AF.T.ED is a protorype of public social housing combined with agriculture (arboriculture and pixel-farming). A new vision of living in balance between the built and the nature. Segantini: “It is a new vision to give everyone a social home capable of generating quality food at affordable prices, regenerating impoverished landscapes, building cohesive multi-ethnic and multicultural communities, de-carbonising the construction sector and introducing innovation and circularity in the construction field to restore balance between buildings and nature.”
